What is the class curriculum?

The class covers the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Geometry.  This curriculum can be found at the following website: http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/curriculum/mathematics/scos/2003/9-12/47geometry  Choose Mathematics 9-12, then Geometry.  

This course is a graduation requirement if you are on the 4-year University track.  Algebra 1 is a prerequisite for this course.

What materials do I need?

Hard cover, three-ring binder Erasable writing utensil

Loose-leaf notebook paper 

Loose-leaf graph paper (1/4" quadrille)

Notebook dividers, labeled as follows

   - homework

   - warm-ups

   - notes

   - quizzes

Ruler
At least one dry-erase marker
TI-83 Plus or TI-84 Plus calculator
Colored pencils
 
Agenda Book   
Cover for textbook  
A spiral bound notebook or bound composition book

Do I need a calculator?

Yes.  You should have a TI-83 Plus, or equivalent calculator.  Texas Instruments has recently introduced the TI-84, which is an upgraded version of the TI-83.

If you purchase a TI calculator, please bring in the proof-of-purchase. These can be used by the school to get free equipment.

Does this class have a final exam?

The final for this course will be the North Carolina End-of-Course exam for this subject. The exam will count for 25% of the final course grade.

What is the Grading policy?

Tests count 60% of your quarter grade.

Quizzes count 30% of your quarter grade.

Homework/classwork and other items count 10% of your quarter grade.

The final exam is the North Carolina End-of-Course exam and will count 25% of your final grade for the course.
